CHIEF MCARTHUR

SHE/HER
CHIEF ENGINEER

McArthur

“Oh yeah, no, we definitely need to be running. The error code is just gonna tell us how fast.”

Description:

If McArthur has a first name, either nobody knows it or it’s actually “Chief.” A thin, athletic woman with close-shaven black hair and a large ocular implant replacing her left eye, Chief Engineer McArthur can usually be found smeared in grease and wielding a power tool.
Most days, she’s neck-deep in the business of managing wrenchies and ensuring Hell’s Gate still has air, water and lights. Never one to shy away from hard work, she leads from the front, usually being the first to clock in for shifts and the last to clock out.
In truth, she would’ve been a better choice than Jerry to replace Director Bai, and everyone knows it. But everyone also knew that removing her from her current post would be a disaster. Nobody knows their way around the Gate like she does, and losing her hands-on expertise wasn’t something the station could afford.
Despite the pressure placed upon her by her towering work schedule, she’s usually level-headed and rarely loses her cool. Since the recent debacle with the printer, however, she’s become sterner, punishing breaches of maintenance protocol she previously let slide. She’s also made a dire “promise” that, should the printer ever work again, anyone who submits a fabrication without triple-checking it first “will wanna get good at spacewalking real quick.”
The PCs will interact with her mostly during periods of downtime, as she’s responsible for directing station maintenance crews. She also oversees the team of specialists who repairs their mechs, so staying on her good side is probably the wisest course of action.

The Players:

Chief is the dedicated mech-head on the Security Team, her job is to keep your mechs up and running at peak efficiency, and she is damned good at it.
But she's not the only working on the frames, your characters do a good half of the work themselves.

  • How does your PC treat their mech? is it just a weapon? a heirloom? a part of family?
  • How good are they at repairing frames? do they enjoy it?
  • Does your PC like piloting frames? do they get any enjoyment out of it?
  • What's the origin of their frame? was it built by them? was it a civilian frame beforehand? what company made it?
  • How many hits as your mech taken? how banged up is it? is it in peak condition? is it burned? scarred? dented? unpainted?
